Wire brings together the news and The Desk’s editorial selection. Use the search field and filters to narrow the coverage. Open a headline for context and follow the publisher link to read the source.

Universe contains company profiles. Projects links recorded project states to dated evidence. Both are included with a research subscription.

Calendar lists upcoming dates. Sources explains the monitored publications and their collection status.

Keyboard

The Wire can be read from the keyboard. The shortcuts work outside text fields, and letter shortcuts use unshifted letters.

• ↑ ↓ move through the stories in the feed, and J K go to the next and previous story. The current story is marked with a bar on its left edge, and the story takes focus.
• → opens the current story in place and ← closes it.
• Enter opens and closes the current story in place, as Space does. On a link or button inside a story it activates that control. With nothing focused, it opens the current story.
• O opens the current story at its publisher, in a new tab.
• / moves to the search field.
• Esc closes the innermost thing first: the keyboard help, the navigation menu, the open story, then the filter panel. On a story, company or project page it returns to the list, and in the search field it clears the search. When nothing is left to close, it removes the story marker.
• ? lists the shortcuts. Show keyboard help at the foot of the Wire does the same.

Tab moves between links and controls as usual.

Create a free account for the Wire and Calendar, or sign in to an existing account. See plans and pricing for company and project research.

Signed-in readers can sign out from the footer. Subscribers can use Manage in the Wire’s footer to open billing and cancellation.
